5/19/17 Final blog post

    • Final Exam Blog Post: please type a final reflection about your experience in Emerging Technology class this semester.  Please include the following in your reflection:
      • What you have learned
      • How you will use this information in the future
      • What other "Emerging" topics would have helped you prepare for the future or even just survive high school
      • Overall course feedback
  • All coursework has been graded & entered except for your Website -- make sure it is posted!
Throughout the year in computer class we have learned everything from how to make a really good power point presentation to how to edit a photo and make it look a lot better. I will use all of the information I learned in this class in the years to come when I am doing just about anything on the computer. The best technology would probably be using Microsoft mix and using power point for our finals because it now gives me my favorite option to present my work. overall I loved this course and I would recommend it to any incoming freshman and sophomores.

4/3 Weekend

This weekend I helped my father down at my lake house. We cleaned mostly it was really long and kind of hard work but in the end when we came back to Kansas city we got some Jalapenos so it was pretty good also. My favorite thing to eat at Jalapenos is probably the chicken and cheese quesadillas. Now I know i'm basic but they are good and they are quality food.

5/4 Website Reflection

Overall I really enjoyed the creation of our own website but I think I would have really enjoyed being able to make our website over what ever we chose instead of a certain activity we are involved in. I started off using Wix and got really confused in the process so I switched over and used Weebly and found that it was a lot easier and was more useful and gave more of a user interface when needed.

Blog Post 4/13

Blog Post: 4/12 Online Forms/Surveys
So you've used Google Drive for Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc... but, have you ever used Google Drive to create a form?  Do you even know what this means?  For this blog post, first answer the two questions I just asked... Then, tell me about your experience with survey-generating software.  Have you used any?  If so, which one(s)?

I have never used Google Drive to create a forum before. A forum is a useful place almost like a blog where someone asks a question and other people will make an attempt to answer the question to the best of their ability and typically someone has the same question more than once and there is also usually more than one answer. I have had little experience with the actual software side of a forum but I use forums a lot to look up common problems mostly with cars or certain equipment or even vehicular modification. 4/4/17 Easier Apps

How often do you utilize applications "apps" on your phone/tablet to make your life easier or more convenient?  Can you imagine life without "apps"?  How would your daily life be different if "apps" did not exist?

I use all kinds of apps everyday, everything from weather to controlling my camera from anywhere in the world. No I don't think that I would be able to even imagine life without apps. Everyone's lives would be totally different because we would almost be living in a stone age and we would be very incapable.

Blog Post 3/31NCAA Reflection
What have you learned by competing in our class NCAA basketball competition? Had you filled out a bracket prior to this class?  Did you follow any of the games during the tournament out of curiosity?  What have you learned about Google Docs & Sheets by creating your bracket & spreadsheet with them?

I have learned that I am horrible at betting and I favorite my team that probably won't win and I will probably never bet on winning a bracket. Yes I have filled out a bracket in another computer class. Yes I watched the Baylor game and also the Kansas University game. I have learned that google sheets is very similar to excel in that it's interface is very similar and it operates almost the same.

Blog Post 3/30/17 MOVIE/ TV Pick

I never get out anymore & need ideas for great some movies or a TV Series to watch in my free time. What is the best movie(s) you have seen in the past year.  Is there a TV Series that I just HAVE to see? What is the genre of the movie(s) you are recommending (I don't like horror...). Convince me that your movie(s) and/or TV Series suggestions are ones that I should see immediately, but don't give the plot away.  GO! :-)

By far the best two movies I have seen in the past year is Logan and also Dead Pool. Both are great movies and I particularly thought Dead Pool was very funny. One great TV series on Netflix is Long Mire its based in a small town and its basically like crime solving and its very cool. The Genres of the movies I chose were Comedy and Action. I love both movies because they are both very intense and you will want to sit down and watch through each movie.

Blog Post 3/21 Spring Break

For Spring Break I took a trip to Colorado for 5 days to go skiing. We went to Copper mountain two days and we also went to Breckenridge two days also. My brothers and I snow boarded while we were there and my father skied. Everyone had a blast and thought the trip was very enjoyable. We got on a flight back on Tuesday and my brothers and I hung out for the rest of the week and relaxed on our time off and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Here is a picture of the fish I caught while in Colorado.

Photo Editing Reflection

I personally liked the website called funky-designs because it proved easier to edit photos and it also was a lot more customization than the rest of the ones off of the website that we were given. this overall was a great assignment and I can't wait for more customization photo collages and other photo related things.

Comments reflection

So I commented on 5 different students Blog's/ Blog Posts and I thought it was very useful information. I commented on Zachary's blog post and I said that he had very good comparison between the two soda's but he needed a little more pop and it was a little to bland. Overall I really enjoyed this project because we got to choose what we wanted and we got to work on what we wanted to so that we could provide the best evidence to the reader as posi

Info graphic Reflection

I have learned that info graphics are a very helpful tool and a very neat way to present new data and to show someone something other that using Prezi or PowerPoint. I did enjoy creating my own but it was a little challenging considering I used a lot of data instead of words or photos. I think I would use an info graphic in school to present something to an individual person and not a large group of people considering that it is just a big photo and more of an individual based product. I used Piktochart and I thought it was a flawless platform to use and to further customize. This side was very easy to navigate and make my template info graphic my own to use and to make it look completely mine. In my opinion I would use this site again because of the ease of use and how nice it was to not have to get any alerts for paying for anything and just use what they have.

Words for teens

I do some what agree to this article. This article both describes how people don't care about a lot of things anymore and they think everyone owes them everything. But in the same way there are some parts of this article that don't make a whole lot of sense like he says make a raft, which doesn't really relate to any of it but over all it is a helpful article.

Chrome VS Symbaloo

Overall I think Chrome is a better program to use because it is always there and it is required to use the internet and the ease of use is absolutely amazing. I would recommend chrome because it is an internet platform and it also can be used to save your favorite pages and to keep things you want in order. the only problem with chrome is that trying to take off your bookmarks takes a long time instead of Symbaloo.

Infographic

log Post: (respond with at least 10 sentences - hopefully even more)

Today we will begin using online tools to create what is called an "Infographic".
Take your time & conduct some research on infographics.
  • What is an infographic?
  • What is the purpose of an infographic?
  • What type of information is best displayed in an infographic?
  • How can an infographic help convey your message to an audience?
  • How might you use an infographic in your class assignments?
Find 2 examples of infographics that you think are very cool/useful to you.  Post the infographics on your blog & make sure to cite where you found them.

An info graphic is a picture, animation or photo of something you are trying to show the common person and or tell them about. The key to creating an info graphic is to use the least amount of words possible and to describe the thing you are trying to show with the most descriptive things. The purpose of an info graphic is to help the viewer understand something you are trying to describe to them by using the largest amount of photos and descriptive animations possible. The best type of info graphic is one in which has the least amount of words and has the most photos and can describe the product or subject very well.an info graphic can convey a positive and negative message to the reader or viewer it just depends on how the author of it describes the product. I think using an info graphic for a school assignment would be both very beneficiary to the student and the author because of the ease of design and also the student because the chances of the student becoming confused is a lot less and it a lot greater benefits.

Canva VS Lucid Press

The easiest to join would have been Canva, just because of the server issues that lucid press gave me. Overall the easier one to use in the end would have to be Lucid Press because of how easy it was to customize your templates and make them how you wanted them. also the best thing about Lucid Press was how professional it looked and how easy it was, the main problem was creating a login and or getting into one of their servers. The thing I liked about Canva was how easy it was to login and start creating your templates, and other peoples templates where easy to use and customize. The only two problems that I had with Canva were that you were limited on what you could do if you didn't pay for it and how unprofessional it looked. In my opinion the program that created the trendiest and or the better choice was Lucid Press. By far Lucid Press offered a Plethora of free features to use at your disposal and it also offered a lot better interface that was a lot easier to use. As an overall pick I choose Lucid Press because of all of the free features it has and also how straight forward it was and how easy it was to change things and customize your template.

My Dream Business

My business would be to make boats. Halliburton would make everything from luxury yachts to small performance race boats and we would also have a contract with the United States Military. Our business would have two Different Locations: The first in Texas. and the second in California. We would be contracted with the military to provide them with the newest and best equipment on the market and we also would make boats for the public and commercial use.

Three Different Types of Canva

Here are the days my brothers and I are leaving to go on a ski trip to Denver. We haven't chosen the resort yet because we have a ton of different options when we get to Denver.

Blog Post 2/13/2017

This weekend I attended Sweet Heart. I went with a girl named Katie, and we went as friends. We had a fun time and the dance was well organized in a way that every one who attended could be apart of it. No I did not attend the BV VS South West game. We decided to eat at Pinstripes because of the location and how easy it was to get in and out quickly.

We took a photo in the lobby of Pinstripes.

Here is a photo of who was waiting for me when I got home.

Ted Talk

Children these days have no idea what it is like to work. They don't have a disconnect and they just don't care about anything anymore. the younger generation needs to learn to respect their elders and to slow down to do things correctly the first time instead of rushing through life and everything they are doing and spend some decent time on something important. The newer generation needs to learn better social skills and learn on how to better physically communicate with other people.I do agree with the woman who spoke during the Ted Talk. She made an excellent point to point out how the younger generation hasn't made the connections to other people that the older generation has and that the younger generation hasn't created the bonds with people or mastered their people skills like the older generation. I will change my current behaviors because it will benefit me in the long run and help my public figure to open me up and get to know new people. I think this will benefit the future generations because it will show them an example of how it was before we had all of the technology and it will matter to them on what they are doing.

Project Reflection

                                                                  Link to Google Slides

As an overall experience, not collaborating overall made me more productive because I had nothing to distract me and there was nothing else to do except the project. I think I could conduct a business class like this, although it would be challenging because I wouldn't get that connection with the students that is needed but it would also just be able to post out the class information and all of the assignments. Overall though I think there would be some confusion but it would have to be the students responsibility to figure it out so that they could finish the class with the grade they wanted. I learned from this experience and though it was very helpful in a way that the assignment was very straight forward and there weren't any hoops to jump through and there also weren't any things we had to turn in along the way. Overall I think that my peers and my project partner will be very happy with the end product.

Name:Jackson Halliburton
Date:1/30/17
Name of Article:What Is Social Bookmarking?
Source: Life Wire
https://www.lifewire.com/review-of-blinklist-3486492

Not only can you save your favorite websites and send them to your friends, but you can also look at what other people have found interesting enough to tag. Most social bookmarking sites allow you to browse through the items based on most popular, recently added, or belonging to a certain category like shopping, technology, politics, blogging, news, sports, etc.
You can even search through what people have bookmarked by typing in what you are looking for in the search tool. In fact, social bookmarking sites are being used as intelligent search engines.
Since social bookmarking tools are access on the web or via a web-based application, this means you can save a new bookmark using one device, access your account on another device and see everything you added or updated from your other device. As long as you're signed into your social bookmarking account, you'll have the most recently updated version of all your bookmarks and other customizable information.

Personally, I like Google Chrome more because it makes more sense to use and your bookmarks are right at the top of the page. For an overall experience Google Chrome would be a better option because of the ease of access and how usable it is. Inside this article it also goes onto further describe why instead of just searching through out your browser for the web pages you want, it is more useful to use Social Bookmarking.

Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking is when someone annotates a book online. for example if someone is to annotate a book for school online and they create citations and they cite evidence and talk about the book and its quotes, that is an example of Social Bookmarking. The purpose of Social Bookmarking is to be able to understand text better and to give better insight on something. I would suggest Social Bookmarking for others because it is useful and can help people when they are trying to cite someone or a such text.

1/17/17 Prezi Reflection

I loved using Prezi because it was flawless to use and was very easy to add more slides into the program. I think that Prezi creates a great learning environment and it supports learning because of how easy it is to use and how easy it is to complete by the guidelines. I think that Prezi doesn't look quite as professional as PowerPoint, but Prezi provides a great program base to start learning on. I think the next time I create a presentation I will use PowerPoint because of how straight forward it is to use and how professional it looks to the people.
